Alive Environmental Limited is an environmental consultancy set up by Stephen Cleary (Director) which operates in the areas of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Noise / Acoustic Assessment, Integrated Pollution Prevention Control (IPPC), Environmental Auditing and preparation/supervision of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs).

Prior to setting up Alive Environmental Limited, Stephen spent 18 years working at various environmental roles up to Senior Associate with RPS Group Plc, a worldwide environmental consultancy firm, after spending 2 years as an Environmental Manager at an electroplating company, CPS Ltd., in Dublin.

Stephen is an experienced EIA and IPPC practitioner and has managed a large number of regionally significant EIA/IPPC projects in Ireland and the UK.  In managing large EIA/IPPC schemes through all stages of the process, he has demonstrated all of the required skills and competencies including leadership, effective co-ordination, delivery within onerous timeframes, robust review and awareness in relation to the most recent developments in fields of EIA/IPPC.

Stephen is a specialist in the area of Noise/Acoustics and managed that work stream in the RPS Belfast office for over 10 years before leaving the company.  He has completed detailed noise assessments for a broad range of proposal types including road schemes, wind farms, mixed use masterplans, mining/quarry operations, housing developments, renewables projects, waste projects, industrial development, commercial enterprises, ports, electricity infrastructure, and leisure facilities.  He is adept at using several noise modelling software packages including CadnaA and NoiseMap 2000.  He has considerable experience of all stages of the planning and licensing processes and has acted as an expert witness on many occasions for planning and statutory nuisance related cases.  Stephen has contributed acoustics design inputs for numerous new buildings, including schools, leisure centres and office buildings.

Stephen has extensive experience at undertaking environmental audits of various installations and was an internal auditor of the RPS internal systems prior to departing the company.  He has undertaken many environmental due diligence audits for clients who are in the process of buying facilities and are seeking reassurance in relation to any latent environmental liability that may be associated with a site.  He has experience of all aspects of the generation of and implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and has acted as CEMP Coordinator for large infrastructural projects in Northern Ireland.
